Lovejoy ISD is pleased to announce that five students from Lovejoy High School have been named National Merit Scholarship Program Finalists: Declan Finnigan Grant Hu Joshua James Hannah Mao Edward Sutton Of approximately 1.5 million junior students who took the PSAT National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, the top scorers were identified among 50,000 for program recognition. From there, the top 34,000 were identified as Commended Students. As one of the top 16,000 students to earn National Merit Semifinalist standing, these students continued on to apply for Finalist standing. The students then submitted an application, essay, school-based recommendation, and verified their high academic standings as well as took another test- the SAT or ACT. These Finalists will have an opportunity to continue in the competition for about 7,150 Merit Scholarship® awards to be announced in the coming months.
