MCCU and Lovejoy ISD Leadership standing in front of LHS's MCCU Branch for ribbon cutting ceremony

Lovejoy High School is the proud home of the first My Community Credit Union (MCCU) student-run branch! Friday, August 23rd, Lovejoy ISD held a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open the MCCU branch and celebrate the opportunities this business-education partnership will create for LISD students. This includes a Practicum in Business Management for our high school students and financial education experiences for Lovejoy ISD Pre-K-12 students. The MCCU branch will be available to all Lovejoy ISD students and staff during school hours.

Katie Kordel, Superintendent, and Donna Neal, MCCU President, shared their excitement about the opportunities this partnership will create for students. “My Community Credit Union is an outstanding partner for Lovejoy ISD because of their deep commitment to impacting students through financial literacy and enthusiasm for customizing programming to the needs and aspirations of Lovejoy ISD students,” stated Katie Kordel.

Thank you to all those in attendance of the event, including Katie Kordel, Superintendent, Jeff Wood, Board Vice President, Marvin Bobo, Board of Trustees, Mayor Dusty Kuykendall, City of Lucas, Donna Neal, MCCU President, Genene Deleon, MCCU Chief Operating Officer, Freddy Diaz, MCCU Branch Manager, Jaclynn Torres, MCCU Marketing, as well as Practicum of Business Management students: Ryan Murphy, Isabella Stein, Cole Cargulia, and Sophia Stein.
